Abstract
E-learning today is a multi-billion training industry. In the United States of America there are two forms of e-learning: asynchronous e-learning systems and synchronous e-learning systems, also known as live e-learning and virtual classrooms. Live e-learning systems are little known and little used in Europe and do not fi gure in European Commission publications on e-learning.
