Abstract
B oreaalinen metsänraja erottaa puuttomat alu- eet metsäisistä ja on maapallon laajin kasvillisuusvyöhykeraja. Se ulottuu ympäri pohjoisen pallonpuoliskon ja on pituudeltaan yhteensä 13 000 km. Metsänrajametsät kasvavat ankarissa ilmasto-olosuhteissa puulajien esiintymisalueiden reunalla, missä pienetkin ympäristömuutokset voivat vaikuttaa puiden levinneisyyteen
