Abstract

The article describes the pictorial works inside the St. Francis’s church in Staffolo, a group of paintings datable between the second half of the XVI and the XVIII century, mostly unknown to the studies. Using different methods of analysis, from the archival study, to the stylistic method until the iconography, it has been tried to get their attribution and historic context, which permitted to recover the history of an interesting group of works of art, product of the local purchasers, but often coming outside the region and made by more or less known artists, like Filippo Bellini from Urbino, Maffeo Verona, Francesco Trevisani and Giovanni Maspani.
