Abstract

Cell Reports Physical Science-A Big Name to Live Up ToPicture if you will a Cell Press journal. If you are familiar with the portfolio, alongside forward-looking journals publishing high-impact science, you will probably be thinking of a snappy title-Cell, Neuron, Chem. With that in mind, I am delighted to introduce the newest member of the family, Cell Reports Physical Science.Or, as the bartender nearly said to the horse, ''Why the long name?''Let's unpack.Cell.We are a Cell Press journal.Founded over 40 years ago, Cell Press now publishes over 40 journals and is synonymous with quality, rigor, and inventiveness in scientific publishing-initially in the life sciences but in recent years also in the physical sciences and beyond. At Cell Reports Physical Science, those values are at the core of what we do.Our growing team of full-time professional editors, each with significant research and publishing experience, are dedicated to ensuring fair and transparent decision making and constructive and efficient peer review. They work closely with our incredible Advisory Board of researchers from across the globe who provide expert technical advice. Finally, our operations, production, and press teams will ensure that papers published with us are clear and accessible and that they are promoted broad and wide to both the scientific community and the public. We love to publish ''science that people talk about''.The use of the word ''Cell'' in our title represents both our commitment to the high standards expected from a Cell Press title and Cell Press's commitment to supporting the physical sciences.
